Los Angeles, CA - January 30, 2006 - The University of Arizona McGuire
Entrepreneurship program has selected the book Product Idea to Product
Success as its primary text for the course ENTR 481-581 Assessing
Early Stage Technologies For Commercial Potential. This is pre-business
plan course designed to equip students to effectively evaluate and
assess early stage technologies to identify potential applications
and market opportunities, enabling decisions to advance research
and design, and solicit early stage investment. Guiding the students
is the book Product Idea to Product Success, A Complete Step-by-Step
Guide to Making Money from Your Idea, written by "Product Coach"
Matthew Yubas (Broadword Publishing).
University of Arizona Mentor in Residence Don Piper said, "The
McGuire Center's programs focus heavily on partnership-based programs
with colleges from across campus to take technology developed on
campus and commercial it. In the ENTR 481-581 class, students from
any UA discipline can gain a real-world experience to create a feasibility
plan and then get compensated for products that eventually make
it in the market. Product Idea to Product Success was selected for
use because of its roadmap from idea to market and hands-on approach
to determine the commercial value of a product."
The University of Arizona's McGuire Entrepreneurship Program has
been ranked #2 in the nation (#1, public) for four years in a row
by Entrepreneur magazine. The program's purpose is to prepare students
for professional positions in the public and private sectors. The
college is a member of the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools
of Business, and its undergraduate and graduate curricula in business
are accredited by the assembly.
"The book, Product Idea to Product Success will guide the students
to determine the marketability of product ideas," said Yubas.
"The end result is to have a commercialization strategy in
